Ummm... The Month of May

Here's the month of may in a whirl wind.
We started the month by going with Mayers and Maxwells to Knolls (this is a sand dune park 30 minutes East of Wendover).

Then we went to Lake Powell for Memorial Day - Well 2 minutes after getting there, the worst rain storm in 50 years hit. The roads were flooded and red sand was half a foot thick on the streets. After getting Xander so excited to go swimming on the way down - this is as far as he got. Put on all the gear and stuck his leg in the water and decided it was too cold.

We were there for 4 days and the 5th day we were going home and the weather finally cleared so to pass the time Xander and Dad caught a Carp - yuk!

1st Camping Trip of the Season!

We set sail Tuesday at noon, drove to the east entrance of Zion's National Park and camped for the night. Wednesday morning we drove south of Lake Powell to:

Xander is so happy to be in the boat and camping! And did we mention fishing.

We launched our 14ft. PortaBoat (yes, this boat looks rubbermaid and folds up for transporting). Xander and Jason love this boat. I am the cautious one always bailing the water that inevitably comes in. Don't worry Jason is prepared and puts all of our camping gear in large garbage bags.

The view of the Grand Canyon from the water is mystical. There is just a quite peace there.

This is our camping spot - at the famous Horseshoe Bend. Yes, click - see that beach? You can camp right there on the beach - it is super cool. - But watch out don't think about squatting or changing outside - there are always tourists watching from above with an extra zoom lense.

Well, one night in tent is enough for this trailer camping family - so we headed toward Page, AZ to enjoy Lake Powell. We stayed one night on the beach in front of Lone Rock.

The wind picked up so Friday morning packed up to venture towards home.

On the way we stopped at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. We have seen their sign a million times on the way to Powell. We opted out of the tour as it is over an hour in a bus. We walked around by ourselves instead. This is where all the abused animals you see on the news are sent to rehabilitate. It is a nice facility with very caring people. I was amazed at how large the Sanctuary actually is.

After the animal self-guided tour we started towards Coral Pink Sand Dunes. If you have not seen these dunes - they are a must! - Red sand with pine trees sticking out everywhere.

We had a lot of fun and made it back in time for the AMA SuperCross Races on Saturday Night.

EASTER

We started out Saturday at the Mayer's house for a yearly Easter Egg Hunt. The party is actually hosted by Tom and Bev Dickson. They hide hundreds of plastic eggs with money and treats inside. Xander was so excited he found so many.... found $2.00 total and lots of chocolate.

Sunday morning was early - He loved his basket! There were airplanes, SuperWhy cape, new church tie(made by mom), bubbles, stuffed bunny, binoculars, and lots of candy.

This is the best picture we could muster with the 3 of us.

We were also lucky enough to have our niece Jennifer with us on Easter Sunday. She was passing through for a day on her way home to Cali.

Potty Training

So I actually thought I was going to win at this battle when he was 18 months. HAHA - He sure showed mom who was in control. I have tried everything in the last 2 years to get him to use the potty - nothing worked.....until we were at the Sink's house and he saw Avery's Potty chart and that she got a big prize at the end. He was sold he wanted to go home that instant and go potty.
We created a chart and glued a picture of a green scooter to the bottom (he has been asking for one for awhile)

He finished the chart in 2 days without any accidents - He even got the runs one night and made it everytime. That deserved a few stickers.

Found the usb cord.

2 weekends ago we had a visit from our friends Ryan and Jodie and Paige. Since it was so warm Xander wanted to ride a motorcycle, so we decided to see if Paige wanted to go with him. I don't know why we didn't want to be on the back, he was wearing his lovely green 80's sunglasses. Hello babe.

After Motocycling we took the kids bowling, Nothing like bowling with a 1 year old and a 3 year old. Xander thought he should take everyones turn and Paige just wanted to be in the middle of the lane.

Well, 2 years after the first try at this....I am attempting yet again to keep a BLOG and show off my family and style. I am so excited to get this going. The problem I have run into is the fact I have taken numberous pictures for this attempt and have misplaced the usb cord that attaches to my camera. Therefore, NO PICS yet.
I have also decided to do 2 blogs. One for my family and experiences and a second for all my projects. I have become project queen lately and want to share all the fun things I have made or become educated on. That blog will be RAWtrendz.blogspot.com
